Housing Services

In 2012, Grace Sparkes House undertook a project to design, build and operate permanent, affordable, supportive housing in Marystown. Due to inflation, an influx of outside workers to the area and an increase in local rental rates, the number of women and children who were homeless or at risk of homelessness were steadily rising. In March of 2014, McAuley Place was opened. This six unit apartment building featured onsite laundry, indoor and outdoor community spaces, and modern safety and security features.

McAuley Place also has a housing support team consisting of various community resources including Grace Sparkes House, Mental Health and Addictions and the local Housing Support Worker. This option is available to everyone residing at McAuley Place.

For more information or to access these services please contact Grace Sparkes House at 709- 279-3566/709-279-3560 or follow the links available on this website.

Grace Sparkes House also sponsors and works closely with the Housing Support Worker for the Burin Peninsula. For further information regarding the services of the Housing Support Worker, please call 709-279-3875 or email bphousing@hotmail.com.
